I have taken pictures ever since I can remember. Mostly the amount of
pictures taken was limited to the amount of money I had. I still shoot
slide film because it is less expensive than paper pictures (also because
the color is more permanent).
When I became a landscape architect I took pictures of site details,
outdoor spaces, plants and flowers. I did this because they stand still.
With the advent of the auto focus SLRs programed to catch the action and
adding 28 to 150 zoom lens I found that I started to take pictures of
moving objects.
Because I like pictures I look at a lot of other people's photos. I found
that no one seemed to see the things that I saw. So I started to capture
those pictures that are there only for an instant. I found out the hard
way that they were there only for an instant, when I decided to wait
because moving to the left would make a better composition, the picture
dissolved and now exists only in my mind. When traveling I am constantly
taking pictures. Sometimes the people traveling with me wonder if they
took the same trip.
