Parish History:

Saint Joseph The Worker Parish was established on August 30, 1946.  The first Mass in the (old) Saint Joseph's Church was celebrated on June 29, 1947 by the then Father Ed Buckley.  This building is now the parish hall - The Buckley Center. On May 22, 1969 the present Church was dedicated and a Mass of Thanksgiving was celebrated by Bishop Robert Joyce.

Saint Joseph's Chapel began in 1950.  The present building underwent much refurbishing but began to be used in 1965.  The Rev. Joseph Pray celebrated the first Mass in the newly completed St. Joseph's Chapel in 1969.

In July, 2017, Saint Joseph's Parish was combined with St. Mary's Parish, Springfield.

Saint Joseph's Chapel was closed in October, 2017. Rev. Monsignor John J. McDermott, J.C.L., the Vicar General of the Diocese, was the principal celebrant - with Fr. Maria Lazar, the pastor of St. Charle's Church in Bellows Falls - of the final Mass on October 21, 2017.
