Peter
Neri began playing the electric guitar as a teenager. While playing lead
guitar with Connecticut rock groups in the 1970s, he opened
for such legendary acts as The Lovin' Spoonful, Paul Revere and the Raiders,
The Dave Clark Five, Blood Sweat and Tears and Iron Butterfly. When
his bands broke up, Peter moved West and performed as a solo folk/blues
performer in California and Montana.
Moving on with his life and musical interests, he put
down the electric guitar for good and returned back East. He moved
to Vermont and began studying the classical guitar. While performing
traditional classical guitar pieces, he began writing music for
the classical and acoustic guitar.
With such a rich background of musical experiences, Peter
now plays acoustic guitar in a style that is a marriage of many disciplines.
Peter sites the following diverse group of guitarists as major musical
influences on his playing style: Eric Clapton, Jimi Hendrix, Christopher
Parkening, Eliot Fisk, Preston Reed, Chet Atkins and Michael Hedges.
The release of Night Visions was Peter's first (mostly) solo acoustic guitar CD comprised of original compostions for the "new" acoustic guitar.
Peter's second CD, Dreaming of Home, is a lyrical collection of new insrumental guitar pieces. Following a background theme of the ups and downs of raising children, Peter dedicates Dreaming of Home to working parents everywhere.
Peter's ultimate goal is to continue to expand the capabilities
of the acoustic guitar and to compose fresh and memorable compositions
for it. He is currently living in the hills of Vermont. |
