COMMITTEES AND TASK FORCES
Economic Issues Committee works on women's economic development. The Committee
developed policy recommendations for the Women and Economic Development in
Vermont.
Organizational Committee reviews the Commission's services and outreach and
makes recommendations for networking with other groups.
Legislative Committee reviews legislative proposals and makes
recommendations to the full Commission on whether the Commission should
support proposed legislation.
Voter Education Task Force provides education and leadership training to
encourage more women to seek elected and appointed office and also provides
education on the importance of voting.
Health Care Task Force was formed after the Commission did a survey and
found that the number one issue for Vermont Women is Health Care. The task
force was a strong force behind the bill H.241 which was introduced this
year. This bill will allow women who are in a managed care plan direct access to their OB/GYN.
Pay Equity Task Force works on educating society on pay inequity that still
exist today. Women earn 72 cents for every dollar earned by men. The task
force works with the National Pay Equity Committee on the passage of the
Federal Fair Pay Act that was introduced in Congress this year.
