CORE ISSUES
DIRECT SERVICE INFORMATION LINE
The Commission provides supportive counseling, information packets, research and
advocacy to all Vermonters on topics such as child support, criminal justice
issues, employment discrimination, sexual harassment and entrepreneurship.
LEGISLATIVE DEVELOPMENT AND ADVOCACY
The Commission works on legislative issues of importance to families, such as :
criminal justice reforms, economic development for women, sexual harassment in
the workplace and in education, increase in the minimum wage, welfare reform,
gender equity in education, breast cancer, health care reform, joint custody,
child support and gender inclusive language in the Constitution.
PUBLIC EDUCATION AND OUTREACH
The Commission conducts research and produces publications. It provides
education on women's issues through workshops, confgerences, speaking
engagements, and the media. There is a GCW newsletter and legislative updates
during the legislative session.
