Hello,
My
family has recently come upon "The Horn Burying Place" in
Wheelock (read from a seemingly
undisturbed and original stone which
is placed outside the fence). There is obviously work being done
to
restore this cemetery. The new board fence is designed without
a
gate ~ but there is an opening
where the fence extends in on both
sides; it seems sort of
"inviting" to me, but we would love to know
more about this style and any other
history of this cemetery.
There
are a number of unmarked
graves. Where do we find out more
information?
THANK YOU!

Hello,
I am a journalist doing a piece for Northern
Woodlands Magazine.
My story focuses upon a landowner's
obligations, if any, to the dead
in "woodland cemeteries."
Can someone buying a woodlot containing an
old cemetery simply bulldoze it?
I'm having trouble finding an answer
to this question.
Also, I need to learn if a landowner can prevent
people from
visiting their kin in a woodland
cemetery where the land is posted.
Any assistance that anyone can give
me is greatly appreciated.
Perhaps my article can, in the end,
be of some slight help to the
cause of protecting old cemeteries.
Sincerely,
