Here is an area that is sometimes hard for some people to
communicate to a mechanic.  Probably the best way if you are not good
at the sound effects and vocal contortions of a Saturday morning
cartoon is to take the mechanic for a ride and demonstration.
Sometimes the mechanic will know instantly, but almost as often, (it
seems to me,) will be as mystified as the owner/driver as to what is
causing it. And then it might take a lot of investigation in the shop
and several subsequent road tests to finally nail it down. 
    But it is these noises that tell us that something isn't quite
right, and just because the car seems to work alright doesn't mean it
should be ignored.  It could save a lot of expense to get something
fixed early before additional damage is done.
