Regular maintenance is the best habit you can get into for your
car.  It is so easy to postpone needed work that it is even easier to
postpone an oil change, especially if it is only going to be a couple
of weeks.  Trouble is, it might get to a couple of months, and unseen
trouble might be brewing that could be discovered by an astute person
doing a mundane oil change.  How about checking for things like
cracked brake hoses, split CV joint boots, leaking fluids here and
there that can only be seen from underneath the car?  Pretty obvious
to someone standing under the car waiting for the oil to drain, but
difficult for an owner to see from the driveway.
