Interview With The Swingstones
The Swingtones are a ska band from Minnesota. We conducted this interview
via e-mail.
1. How are you guys different from other ska bands? It seems like there's
a lack of originality in ska these days.
Bravo on the lack of originality. I come from Minnesota where almost every
ska band sounds exactly the same. I think its mostly cuz what you sound
like reflects what you listen to. If you listen to ska all day then your
gonna sound generic. When we're touring you can check our van and besides
an occasional fishbone or English Beat CD, we try to listen to as much variety,
non-ska music as possible. We just write songs that we like and if they
fit in the ska genre thats where they go, but we're not the ones putting
them there.
2. Who will win the Tyson Holyfield re-match? thats easy man.
Holyfield doesn't have a chance. He's never even raped a chick before.
3. What do you think of the rise of No Doubt and other similiar bands?
the rise of crappy alterna-ska bands rules. It might suck for people who've
been going to shows for years, but if it makes you feel any better, Swingtones
take a lot of money in from those fools.
4.What is your food of choice?
Meat. Meat for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Snack on meat in between.meat
meat meat.
5.What are some up and coming ska bands and boxers?
As far as up and coming is concerned, I think Green Day is going to come
out with a ska album. After all, we all know punk is dead. Boxers, I don't
know, but I'm sure he won't be white.
6.Who gets more chicks, you guys or Mephiskapheles?
Meph couldn't get chicks if they were Brad Pitt. We on the otherhand are
touring with Miss June this summer. We get more 14 yr old alternative chicks
than fuckin Marilyn Manson.
