GIZMO'S GOSSIP  Gizmo's Gossip

Hi again everyone.
Every year,  it seems,  Mom and Dad use one of these newsletters to announce  improvements to the inn.  In past years this has included the conversion of all rooms to private bath,  new and expanded decks for the suite and yellow rooms,  new furniture for the guest sunroom, a new hot hut and blah blah blah.  This year (though they haven't yet said a word),  the Suite has been redecorated with new colors,  new drapes,  a granny square carpet which Mom made and a new quilt.

If you go back through the 5 1/2 + years of newsletters,  as I have done,  you will be struck by the COMPLETE ABSENCE of any mention of some improvement for me,  your trusted reporter and commentator.  Yes,  I know I have four legs rather than two,  I bark rather than talk and I don't pay to sleep here,  but I do make (in my opinion) various important contributions to this enterprise.  One or two tokens thrown in my direction (notice how I didn't say "bones thrown in my direction") would be nice.  Remember how Red Buttons always lamented the fact that no one ever threw him a dinner ?  A cushy blanket perhaps,  a heated house,  wool lined booties for the winters - anything to show I matter.  What do I get ?  Low fat,  high protein,  "healthy" but tasteless dog food.

What's an icon to do ?

Woof Report

Well I thought I was the only TOP DOG with gossip and insight. Not so...I have competition. If you can't get enough canine tales, news, tips etc. then you need to check out and subscribe to WOOF REPORT. They sniff out the top dog blogs, websites, newsletters, magazines and pet stores to bring you and your fur family the best of the best.

Now it's not just DAD who spends his time in front of the computer!

Love Gizmo

Cheesy Hash Brown Bake

Cheesy Hash Browns

Great as a side for breakfast or dinner!

1 - 30 oz package frozen hash browns
1 large onion, chopped
1 tablespoon butter
2 tablespoons olive oil
1/2 cup flour
1/2 cup shredded Swiss cheese

2 cups shredded cheddar cheese, divided
5 eggs
1/3 cup half & half
salt & pepper

Preparation:
1. In a large bowl microwave the shredded hash browns on high for 7 minutes, stir and microwave again for another 8 minutes, or until potatoes are cooked through. (Mine still had a tiny "bite" to them). Set aside. In a saute pan cook the chopped onion with the oil and butter until translucent. Add to the potatoes and stir gently.

3. In another large bowl add the Swiss, 1 1/2 cups of the cheddar and 1/2 cup of flour. Toss to combine. In yet another bowl whisk the eggs, half & half and salt and pepper. Pour over the potato mixture, add the cheese mixture and mix until well combined. Grease a 9x13 inch pan. Spread evenly into the pan and sprinkle with 1/2 cup remaining cheddar cheese. Bake uncovered at 350 for 35 to 40 minutes or until brown and bubbly.

During the slower  times we like to refresh and renew. This year the Suite has had a facelift.  Well I guess Gizmo already gave you the latest gossip on our recent improvements along with a little venting. So check out his column for details.

Experience Massage Therapy

Massage Therapy

We have also entered into an arrangement with Ryann Schofield,  a well known local Massage Therapist,  to offer her services at the inn.  Guests are able to call her directly for an appointment (802-933-2585) for a variety of Massage Treatments such as "Swedish Relaxation Massage",  'Deep Tissue Massage", "Sports Massager", and "Aromatherapy".

She will come to the inn and perform her services in the guest's room.  We're delighted to make this offering,  which has already received rave reviews (especially from Brad). Her prices are reasonable and she offers a $5.00 off coupon on your first massage. Plan a massage for a loved one as a special relaxing surprise for a birthday, anniversary or just BECAUSE.
