Pet Peeves Elmo & Grover Zeidel

Greetings everyone.  First I'll give myself an intro - my name is Zeidel, I am a grey & white cat & guests say I'm very cute and a little shy.

However, until recently I've been a prisoner in my own home, held captive on the inside (beautiful though it may be), lustfully watching luscious birds frolicking on the bird feeder literally inches from the window while my male feline siblings did their commando thing approaching their (in theory at least) prey.

In all fairness though, besides her being an OVERPROTECTIVE mother, Mom did have some justification. When young, I did get to the outside now and then and did take advantage sometimes by staying away for a day or so. One night I was attacked by something still unknown, losing a huge amount of skin from my back as I pulled away. I thought it best to hide for a week or so, then finally allowed myself to be rescued.

For a long time my stepbrother Thomas (Mark's cat) was falsely accused of this dastardly act, but events, now forgotten, later proved him innocent.

Now, three years later, I and the other cats, are finally getting our reigns loosened. Actually it's going the other way. We're left outside on our own for hours at a time, rain or shine, heck or high water. I think she's tired of having us around all the time. It might also be we've become a bit tired of the most favored nation status conferred on the puppies Elmo & Grover. So we perform a sneak attack bearing claws and teeth on the unsuspecting canines  when we think we can get away with it.. .

Did you know: Cats have five toes on each front paw, but only four toes on each back paw.

ONLINE RESERVATIONS (EXPEDIA, TRAVELOCITY ETC) - A FEW TIPS

Buck Hollow Farm, Fairfax, VT

Hi,

Our guests, if representative of the general public, are unaware of certain information pertaining to these sites.

1) Usually there is little if any savings. The rates shown are usually the same ones the property itself shows. With the service fee, often you actually pay more. Specials or discounts offered by the property will neither show nor apply. In our case, the guests do not receive their "Buck Hollow Bucks".

2) Properties pay 25-30% commission, so really appreciate directly made reservations.

3) All too often the property is not informed of the reservation, creating certain difficulties when the guest arrives. If you do make such a reservation, be sure to double check with the property before arrival.

4) Just as with airlines, properties usually only allocate a few rooms to the on line agencies. So often the agency will say nothing is available, when in fact the property has plenty of rooms. .

5) These agencies are all guilty of bait and switch. They will show a property, even when it is not part their system. When you attempt to reserve (no matter for what date) the system will say nothing is available and then recommend another property (which by coincidence) IS part of their system.

6) We recommend always reserving directly with the property. Reserving through their own web site still saves time, yet avoids all the above.
