OnLine - Toronto, Canada
- Ability
OnLine is an electronic mail system which connects young people
with disabilities or chronic illness to disabled and
non-disabled people and mentors.
- American
Association of People with Disabilities
- This
organization provides benefits for those with disabilities.
This is a non-profit, non-partisan, cross-disability
organization whose goals are to foster unity, leadership and
impact.
- CEC
(Council for Exceptional Children) Home Page
- This is the
largest international professional organization dedicated to
improving educational outcomes for individuals with
exceptionalities, students with disabilities, and/or the
gifted. CEC advocates for appropriate governmental policies,
sets professional standards, provides continual professional
development, advocates for newly and historically under served
individuals with exceptionalities, and helps professionals
obtain conditions and resources necessary for effective
professional practice.
- Child
Research Net
- This is an
international network (based in Japan) of educational
researchers, teachers, doctors, parents and all those
interested in and caring about kids. It is not a "disabilities"
page per se, but there are some items that are useful. (I only
know about them because they have my article on their
website!)
- Disabilities
Information Resources (DINF)
- This
organization collects information on disabilities and
disabilities related subjects and makes it available through
the World Wide Web.

- This is a
good and thorough general listing of other
sites.
- Disability
Link Barn
- This is a
very comprehensive listing of web sites dealing with a variety
of disability related issues.

Internet
- Disability
Resources, Inc. is a nonprofit organization established to
promote and improve awareness, availability and accessibility
of information for independent living.
- Empowerment
Zone
- This site
offers information, ideas, and software related to the author's
interest in the theme of empowerment -- helping individuals and
communities achieve self actualization and full citizenship. It
is interesting, useful and incredibly full. Be prepared to come
back!

Village
- A global
community that integrates information, resources, and
communication opportunities on the Internet for persons with
mental retardation and other disabilities, their families, and
those that provide them with services and
support.

- There are a
load of good links on this page. I have sorted through some of
them and have added them to the categories that I have
generated, but it is worth checking out, too.
- Integrated
Network of Disability Information and Education
(Indie)
- This is a
comprehensive resource for persons with disabilities worldwide!
Indie was developed to be a directory of disability information
on the internet.
- Internet
Resources for Special Children (IRSC)
- This is the
best resource site out there. It is a MUST visit site dedicated
to communicating information relating to the needs of children
with disABILITIES.
- Invisible
Disabilities Page
- This page is
for and about people who have diseases, disorders and
disabilities that aren't visible to most people and are
frequently misunderstood.
- National
Center to Improve Practice in Special Education through
Technology, Media and Materials
- This
organization promotes the effective use of technology to
enhance educational outcomes for students with sensory,
cognitive, physical and social/emotional
disabilities.
- Pacer
Center -- A Parent Advocacy Organization
- Loads of great information
here.
- Special
Education Resources on the Internet
(SERI)
- This is a
great site and provides a collection of internet accessible
information resources of interest to those involved in the
fields related to special education. This collection exists in
order to make on-line special education resources more easily
and readily available in one location. This site will
continually modify, update, and add additional informative
links.
- Teacher
LINK: Special Needs and Disability Resources
- This is a
GREAT teacher resource. You can use this site to find
information on a great variety topics. It is a search engine
for teachers.
