- This
organization provides benefits for those with disabilities.
They are a non-profit, non-partisan, cross-disability
organization whose goals are to foster unity, leadership and
impact.
- American
Council of the Blind
- This page
provides general information about the council and includes
recent issues of their monthly publication, The Braille
Forum.
- American
Foundation for the Blind
- The mission
of this national organization is to enable people who are blind
or visually impaired to achieve equality of access and
opportunity that will ensure freedom of choice in their
lives.
- ARC
Home Page
- The ARC(formerly known as the
Association for Retarded Citizens of the United States) is the
country's largest voluntary organization committed to the
welfare of all children and adults with mental retardation and
their families.
- Autism
Society of America
- This organization promotes
lifelong access and opportunities for persons within the autism
spectrum disorders and their families.
- CEC
(Council for Exceptional Children) Home Page
- This is the
largest international professional organization dedicated to
improving educational outcomes for individuals with
exceptionalities, students with disabilities, and/or the
gifted. They have lots and lots of resources. Definitely check
them out!
- CH.A.D.D.
Home Page
- A national organization with
many local chapters for those interested in learning more about
attention deficit disorder. Their site includes many articles
and suggestions for teachers and parents.
- Disability
Rights Education and Defense Foundation (DREDF)
- This
organization was founded in 1979 by people with disabilities
and parents of children with disabilities. It is a national law
and policy center dedicated to protecting and advancing the
civil rights of people with disabilities through legislation,
litigation, advocacy, technical assistance, and education and
training of attorneys, advocates, persons with disabilities,
and parents of children with disabilities.

- Learning
Disabilities Association of America
- This is a national
organization devoted to defining and finding solutions for the
broad spectrum of learning disabilities.
- National
Association of the Deaf
- This is the oldest and
largest organization representing people with disabilities in
the United States. The NAD safeguards the accessibility and
civil rights of 28 million deaf and hard of hearing Americans
in a variety of areas including education, employment, health
care and social services, and
telecommunications.
- National
Down Syndrome Society
- This organization was
established to increase public awareness about Down syndrome;
to assist families in addressing the needs of children born
with this genetic condition; and to sponsor and encourage
scientific research.

Organization for Rare Diseases
- National
Tourette Syndrome Association
- NTSA's mission is to:
identify the cause; find the cure; control the effects of TS;
serve all with TS.

Academy for Child Development (NACD) Home Page
- This page takes a long time
to come up, but has lots of good articles and information. I've

Attention Deficit Disorder Association
- This is an organization built
around the needs of adults and young adults with ADD and
ADHD.

Center for Learning Disabilities
- NCLD's mission is to promote
public awareness and understanding of children and adults with
learning disabilities, and to provide national leadership on
their behalf, so they may achieve their potential and enjoy
full participation in our society.

Information Center for Children and Youth with
Disabilities
- NICHCY is a
national information and referral center that provides
information on disabilities and disability-related issues for
families, educators, and other professionals.
- National
Information Clearinghouse on Children who are
Deaf-Blind
- DB-LINK is a federally funded
information and referral service that identifies, coordinates,
and disseminates information related to children and youth who
are deaf-blind.
- National
Institution on Disabilities and Rehabilitation Research
NIDRR
- This is a
really useful site for information about research related to
disabilities.
- National
Rehabilitation Information Center (NRIC)
- This is a
library and information center on disability and
rehabilitation.
- National
Technical Assistance Consortium for Children and Young Adults Who
Are Deaf-Blind (NTAC)
- This organization provides
technical assistance to families and agencies serving children
and young adults who are deaf-blind.
- National
Organization on Disability
- This
organization promotes full and equal participation of America's
49 million men, women and children with disabilities in all
aspects of life.
- Office
of Special Education and Rehabilitative Services -- U.S.
Department of Education
- This is a
really important national site with lots of good connections
and information.
- Parents
and Educators Resource Centers
- A site for
information and guidance for parents of children with learning
differences. Lots of good resources!
- Recordings
for the Blind and Dyslexic
- This national
organization provides services for for people who cannot read
standard print because of a visual, perceptual or other
physical disability.
- United
Cerebral Palsy Association
- The mission
of this organization is to advance the independence,
productivity and full citizenship of people with cerebral palsy
and other disabilities, through commitment to the principles of
independence, inclusion self-determination.
