In Mac TCP... -Be sure PPP is hilited in the first window, also be sure InterSlip is NOT present in this window (If it is you should remove Interslip from the extensions folder, and remove MacTCP DNR from the systems folder, and remove MacTCP Prep from the preferences folder and then restart) -Click on MORE -Set OBTAIN ADDRESS to SERVER -Drag the pointer on the thing that looks like a train track to the right, until the Subnet mask reads:255.255.255.0 -Set domain to sover.net, set IP address to 204.71.16.10, and click on DEFAULT -In the second and third rows, enter the same as the first row, but do not click on default. -Click on OK to close Mac TCP In ConfigPPP Control Panel -Set PORT NAME to where your modem is (Usually modem port) -Set Idle timeout to 30 -Set echo interval to OFF -Terminal window should NOT be checked -Hang up on close should be checked -Quiet mode should bechecked -Click on NEW to create a new pref file, call it SoVerNet -Click on OK (PPP server should now say SoVerNet -Click on Config -Port speed should be your modem speed (after succesful connection, try connecting again with a much higher speed, it may work) -Flow Control should be CTS & RTS (DTR) for most high speed (9600 and above) modems. Slower modems, try NONE (Global Village Bronze, use CTS Only) -Click on Tone Dial if you have touch tone service -Enter the SoVerNet number that is local to you (add *70 to turn off call waiting if you have it) -Modem init should be the Modem Initialization string for your modem. Consult your modem manufacturer and/or documentation. Many Modem Initialization strings are listed in the ISKM installation software. If you need to guess, AT&F&D0 or AT&F1 are good ones to try (GV Bronze use AT&F) -Modem connect timeout should be 90, if you are calling a call forward number, try increasing it to 150. -Do not click on IPCP Options..., LCP Options... or Authentication... -Click on Connect Script... Connect script... -Wait timeout:40 Line 1: OUT Blank(no text at all) Line 2: WAIT gin: Line 3: OUT Pusername (your user name, preceded by a capital P) Line 4: WAIT word: Line 5: OUT password (your SoVerNet password) Line 6: OUT Blank(no text at all) Line 7: OUT Blank(no text at all) Line 8: OUT Blank(no text at all) -Click on OK -Click on DONE That's it. It's a good idea to restart the mac after making changes in MacTCP (You don't have to after changing ConfigPPP) -Click on OPEN in ConfigPPP, if the frowning faces turn to smiling faces, you are connected! You need to run other software to utilize the connection now. (like Netscape)
